A succulent shrub, which over time tends to lignify and branch out at the base. Its sturdy blue-green or yellowish-green stems tend to take on a columnar shape. Its stems are well-defined by vertical ribs, covered with small spineless tubercles.
Flowers: Monoecious and showy bright yellow cyathia on 2-3 forked cymes, clustered in 2 to 5 rayed umbels. They grow numerous on the rims of the ribs near the plant’s apex.
